Messages by David Platt & Francis Chan from SBC Pastors Conference

by Keith Sewell on June 29, 2009

The videos below are the messages preached by David Platt and Francis Chan at the SBC Pastors Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on June 22, 2009. God spoke powerfully through both of these men. I pray you listen with open hearts and minds. What is God calling us to do?

UPDATE 07.09.09
I was requested by SBC Tapes to remove the videos of David Platt and Francis Chan. This is unfortunate on several levels but at least most of the messages are now up on the SBC annual meeting site. I’ve linked some of the sermons below:

Is it just me or is the Francis Chan Video bugged about half way through

Hey Matt, I reloaded the Francis Chan video. It should work fine now.

  • Matt Lust (@DrLust)

    Thanks for the fix Keith

Is there any way, or place, to download the David Platt sermon? I had never heard him before the Pastor’s Conference and it was both fantastic and encouraging to hear such a challenging message at the convention.

Is there a place to download these videos? I would like for some of my people to see them.

Thanks for posting – I caught the livecast of Francis Chan, but had missed David Platt.

There is no place to download these messages that I’m aware of. I purchased the DVD from the Pastors Conference and uploaded it for some of our folks to hear. I assume all the messages will be uploaded soon on the SBC Annual Meeting site but I’m pretty confident they won’t be available for download.

I think there is something wrong with David’s video around the 12:30 mark. It stops everytime.

    thanks

Hello all. We are the private ministry that supplies these recordings to those who want them.

No, they will not be available for download. The proceeds from the sales of these messages go to offset the cost of the Pastors’ Conference. The SBC doesn’t pay for the Pastors’ Conference and it is funded by donations and these messages.

There is an order form available at our web site.

I think it is a pity that the SBC has decided to penny pinch at all angles. I understand costs, I understand the rough times…but seriously. These messages need to be heard by all in the convention and outside the convention. As a young committed SBC pastor, I have heard tons of great things about this convention. Dr. Hunt and others have done an incredible job starting to turn this large ship away from destruction. The organizations and churches that are giving away all resources and sermons for free are the ones who are making the greatest impact right now. Release what God has given you for the Kingdom and watch Him provide.

  • Jason

Amen Rob Wilton! It’s a shame we have to charge people to hear the word of God. Well that’s my take on it!

How are people going to hear these messages, especially by Platt and Chan, if they cannot be posted freely? There are several ministries who use to charge for sermons and now have them online to freely download because that is only right. Freely we have received, freely we should give. In the spirit of what Platt was saying in his sermon, we have to get the gospel out without hinderance. I am full of conviction on this and wanted to be able to freely share these sermons by linking to them through this site on Facebook so friends could see, but now I can’t. So disappointing. The convention should make this available for free. The preaching of God’s Word should always be free. They set up a nice stage with nice furniture, etc while the world is starving for the gospel and there is suffering that needs to be relieved. I’m a husband who solely provides for my family through my profession as a critical care nurse. I tithe, give to missions such as Heart Cry, and sponsor two children through Compassion International. I need to be able to freely obtain these messages so I can make them available for friends to see, but am hindered by the steep price being asked for them.

    Hey all,
I am a member of the faith family at Brook Hills where David Platt is the Pastor. All of his messages are available on the Brook Hills website for free and he also has a podcast. I just listened to the sermon at the Pastor’s conference and it is a brief summary of more in depth teaching he has done this last year. The Radical series is a good place to start – it was last fall some time – easy to find on the website.

It’s not so much the fact that the downloads are are available for free. It’s that they’re not downloadable period!
You can watch segments of Platt’s message on YouTube, and even transfer those to DVD’s for free. But what’s the point?
I call upon SBC Tapes to make all of their products available for download. Still charge for them, but having to wait for a DVD in this day and age is really archaic. You gotta change with the times. Just look at David Platt’s church website. (www.brookhills.org) It is awsome! If you want to reach people with the good news, this is a way to do it.

I’m afraid it’s a sign of a need for money, which could be telltale.

  • Melissa

Excuse me but you would pay for just about anything else, but to hear someone preach the word of God ( that by the way the money goes to a good cause you’re not wasting money ) you’re complaing to pay?! That is a shame. And that’s my take on it!
